Polymer microcantilevers fabricated via multiphoton absorption polymerization

چکیده
We have used multiphoton absorption polymerization to fabricate a series of microscale polymer cantilevers. Atomic force microscopy has been used to characterize the mechanical properties of microcantilevers with spring constants that were found to span more than four decades. From these data, we extracted a Young’s modulus of E=0.44 GPa for these microscale cantilevers. The wide stiffness range and relatively low elastic modulus of the microstructures make them attractive candidates for a range of microcantilever applications, including measurements on soft matter. © 2005 American Institute of Physics. fDOI: 10.1063/1.1863414g

متن کاملDevelopment of a biosensor based on laser-fabricated polymer microcantilevers
We develop high-sensitivity biosensors based on microcantilevers. The polymer microcantilevers are fabricated by fast and cost-effective laser machining processes. Polymer film is selected because it gives better sensitivity of deflection measurements than silicon due to its lower Young’s modulus and also its cost is much lower. We demonstrate using these polymer microcantilevers for biological...
متن کاملHigh-speed multiphoton absorption polymerization: fabrication of microfluidic channels with arbitrary cross-sections and high aspect ratios.
We demonstrate the use of high-speed, multiphoton absorption polymerization (MAP) for the fabrication of large-area microfluidic master structures. High-speed fabrication in SU8 without laser-induced damage is made possible by the use of a novel photoacid generator with a high two-photon-absorption cross-section. Master structures fabricated with MAP can be used to produce polydimethylsiloxane ...

متن کاملRedox multiphoton polymerization for 3D nanofabrication.
We report for the first time on the redox multiphoton polymerization of an organic-inorganic composite material, in which one of the components, a vanadium metallo-organic complex, initiates the polymerization. The composite employs multiphoton absorption to self-generate radicals by photoinduced reduction of the metal species from vanadium (V) to vanadium (IV). We exploit this material for the...
